Jim Jones works in a competitive space. He owns Mr. Maid, a cleaning business that serves his local community.

He’s noticed his page ranking decreasing over the years, and came to us looking for guidance on how he could optimize his site for search. He also wanted to know what he could do to make a “boring” topic like cleaning more interesting.

We were impressed with how many tactics Jim has already tried. Over the years he’s put a lot of time and effort into experimenting with a variety of techniques.

Sean Jackson offered Jim targeted help with local SEO. Sonia Simone and Pamela Wilson helped Jim to identify opportunities to improve his content marketing efforts with an eye toward getting more traffic to his site, and — in the long term — boosting the number of clients he serves.

How to Be Your Own Business Consultant

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could hire a business consultant every time you met a challenge in your business?

The reality is, most of us aren’t sitting on bags of money that we can hand over to consultants at the drop of a hat. What we are sitting on, though, is gut-level experience with our business that we can channel into useful information to guide us through our challenges.

It all starts with self assessment. In this session, Sonia and Pamela offered a self-assessment form you can use for your business, and they shared:

  • Why our guts know more about our businesses than we give them credit for
  • How to access your inner knowledge by answering a simple set of questions
  • What to do with the information you discover after you go through the self assessment process
  • How to pinpoint if your information is based on fears rather than solid instinct
  • How often to go through a self-assessment process (and why you shouldn’t do it too often)
